The Max Planck Institute for Meteorology MPI-M, held the 5th Earth System Modeling School. EaSyMS11 succeeded summer schools held since 2007 with varying partner institutions, with DKRZ in 2010.

Date and Place:

EaSyMS11 took place from June 6 to June 10 2011 at MPI für Meteorologie, Hamburg, Germany.

Scope:

EaSyMS11 provided  well-balanced mixture of lectures on Earth system modeling, specific model approaches, and hands-on training sessions on using the COSMOS Earth system model (ESM). Evening lectures and social events complemented the daily activities.

Attendees:

The school primarily addressed IMPRS-ESM PhD students. The number of participants was 18.
